Do you have classes for boys and girls?

Our gym is primarily for girls. We do have boys in our classes for younger children. We also have Fitness warrior classes and teams for boys. Call us and check. We can accommodate any child who has an interest in gymnastics.

Can my child try a free class?

Yes we offer a free trial class. Please call ahead so we can be sure to have your child in the right class and fill out a registration card at the front counter.

What if my child just wants to learn tumbling for Cheer?

We have open cheer tumbling on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 7:30 and 7:30 to 8:30. We also have open gym on Sundays from 11:00 to 2:00. We also offer private lessons. Please call to get more information.

How do I enroll my child in a class?

Call ahead so we are sure your child is in the right class. Then it’s simply come in about 10 minutes before the class begins so your child can get comfortable and you can fill out the registration card.

When do we sign up?

We have an open enrollment, which means you can join us at any time and we train year round. We do not have “sessions” so we don’t have a beginning and an end. We do have a spring demonstration for all of our class and team gymnasts.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes we have a $40 annual registration fee.

Can I stay and watch my child during their class?

Yes of course you can stay. We encourage you to watch but try to not distract, for safety reasons. Let your child know you love to watch them do their work!

What should my child wear to class?

For girls, a leotard is best. Tight fitting shorts are permitted over the leo. Loose fitting shorts are a bit of a safety issue. If you don’t have a leo, or are uncomfortable, then shorts and a T-shirt are okay. For boys, shorts and a t-shirt.

When and how do I pay the monthly tuition?

Tuition is due by the 15th of each month. You can pay by Master card, Visa, check or cash. If you are late we will give you a call. If you are really late (the end of the month) we charge a $25 late fee.

How will we know about moving up to a more advanced class and possibly “Team”?

Our coaches are always evaluating our athletes and we tend to move girls onto one of our nine teams fairly quickly. If you would like to move up, please be sure to mention it at the front counter or to your child’s coach. We do have a number of “beginner” teams for both USAG and USAIGC.

How can I check to see if the gym is open in bad weather or on holidays?

We update the Port Jeff Gym Facebook page with schedule announcements, special events, interesting information about our sport and photos from recent competitions.
